Information about Pace Runners

As in previous years, the Kyoto Marathon is delighted to have a total 25 pace runners thanks to the generous cooperation of the Association of Kyoto Runners.

Each pace runner will wear a race bib displaying a target finish time and a highly visible balloon. If you are aiming to complete the course within a particular time, you can follow a pace runner with the appropriate target time on his/her bib.

The pace runners will be aiming to achieve their target gross times from the starting gun to the finish line. However, they only serve as guides, so please be aware that they may not finish precisely within the labeled times.

On the course, the pace runners will have access to the same amenities as general runners, including food service and toilets. If you intend to use a particular pace runner’s designated finish time as your own target time, please note that time out for toilet breaks, food/drink stops, etc. is not taken into account, even if you run at the same speed as your chosen pace runner.
